When I first saw them, I was like, "what's their race? Somewhere around European. And I found out that they were Scandinavian." It was cool to know this.

Fantastic work on capturing the sisters' expressions, especially Elsa. I think a lot of people, male and female, can relate to Elsa's tortured soul, having to suppress her powers all those years because she nearly killed Anna by accident, only to have the pressure build until it exploded into eternal winter. She can't forgive herself, even as her sister reaches out to help her. A lot of us have things in our lives we're ashamed of, and we hold on to the guilt long after everyone else has forgotten it.

I really love how Jennifer Lee and company rewrote "The Snow Queen" to cast Elsa in a more liberated yet sympathetic light. Instead of a cold, heartless monster, Elsa is a strong yet caring girl burdened with the guilt of her past. And I really cared about her throughout the film. You captured her inner struggle in the first and last panels powerfully. I was crying like a baby when Elsa realized love was the key to controlling her powers and then joyfully thawed Arendelle back to summertime. The joy her powers brought her as a little girl was back! :happybounce: Clap

Well if you haven't seen it yet you really should. It's a good movie, and the snowman has a reason for being there

This was one of the problems I had with the film. I felt they tried too hard to keep Elsa "pretty"--how much better would Let It Go have been if she'd gotten expressions like that last panel?

Now I'm curious... did this bother you at other point in the movie? Cause I personally thought the CGI animation in Frozen was wonderful - appealing and expressive.

It bothered me most during Let It Go, I'll admit, which was the emotional high point of the film. For the most part I thought the animation was spectacular, especially the ice and snow which looked beautiful. My main issue as with the design of the characters themselves--I felt as though the animators were trying too hard to make them look "pretty" while they expressed themselves. Everything around them is so realistic, whereas our two main characters have a kind of Barbie-doll look and never got those big, emotional expressions that I wanted them to have. Especially with such passionate VA's.

I see what you mean. For most of the movie they seemed to be going for a more subtle and contained acting for Elsa, which makes alot of sense character-wise and I think it worked, but during Let it Go specifically they could've pushed a bit more, since at that point Idina's voice goes all-out. It was the only point in the movie that bothered me a bit in that regard - not that matching Idina wouldn't be a challenge for any animator, ha!

Anyway, thanks for the reply! Also, I see you're a brony so *brohoof*

In fact... have a special *last episode was great brohoof with added cheese*

Yeah, I had that problem too. Especially if you compare the film with some of the behind the scenes footage of Idina Menzel doing the voice acting. You can see so much more emotion on her face. (The fact that she's a broadway actress helps, but the sheer amount of expression in her face is just so much *more*, if you know what I mean)

I mean, especially considering that CGI models are not like drawn pictures - they break  and get off- model if pushed too far.

Exactly. Menzel's voice is so powerful and raw, I felt like the animation really lacked in translating that into images. While her design is fantastic, her facial features were really lacking and felt doll-like. Oh well. Still a superb movie.

Ohh I just saw this movie with my twin! It was great! Especially because during so many parts in the movie, since my twin and I are so close, we could literally feel the sisterly bondage in the movie... i started crying in a few parts haha
My favorite character of all time though would be olaf! He was such a great comic relief <333

I love that part (the top moment in that song (in my opinion) is right when she stomps on the ground and starting to actually build the palace starting off with "And here I stand!" I really do love the person that sung the song~) It's really hard for me to pick a favorite part but I'd have to go for little Anna running around the estate trying to entertain herself while continually going up to her sisters door.

Your work is consistently inspiring - so simple and so rich at the same time.  Could you shed any light on the texture you use?  Is it something publicly available?
